Over 25,000 pub goers raise over £125,000 for charity
Back in February, the team of volunteers behind PubAid, the body designed to promote the great work pubs do for charity, set out to host the World’s Biggest Quiz.
The counting of funds raised from participating pubs has now finished, revealing that 26,760 people took part across 1044 pubs to raise £127,781.
Whilst the team are yet to hear if they’ve broken the World Record for the largest multi venue quiz, the initiative was a huge success in fundraising and awareness terms alone.
Co-founder of PubAid, Keith Knowles, commented: “What a great example of how great the British Pub industry is. In the main, licensees prove themselves to be selfless, charitable and as this quiz shows, highly motivated to do good and contribute to the fabric of their community.”
Ross Piggott, of RP Databases, who handled the entries, added: “The top three areas that benifitted from the quiz, were: Air Ambulance, Cancer Charities and Hospices.”
